When you ask an assistant to search car hire with Road Genius, this service receives the trip details the assistant passes on (pick-up and drop-off place, dates and times, the kind of car, and, if given, the driver's country of residence and age), plus an anonymous user identifier and a coarse location (country) from the assistant. It does not receive your name, email, chat history or payment details.
The trip details are sent to our supply partner (GoSee, the car hire network behind Road Genius's car search) to get live availability and prices. The anonymous identifier is used only to limit how many searches one user can make and to count how many people use the app. Searches are cached for about 10 minutes so the same search isn't repeated.
Server logs (the search details, a shortened one-way hash of the anonymous identifier, and timings) are kept for up to 30 days to run and improve the service. After 30 days the anonymous identifier is deleted; we keep the search details without anything that identifies who asked (for example, which places and dates are searched and which results are clicked), to see how the app is used. Nothing is sold or used for advertising.
"Book" opens roadgenius.com with a reference showing the visit came from this app. What you enter there and at checkout falls under those sites' own terms and the Road Genius privacy policy.
